Lake Erie Ink makes a great SPLASH!
On Sunday, September 30th, Lake Erie Ink splashed the community with creative expressions. Over 100 visitors enjoyed poets, puppetry, haiku, tattoos, and refreshments.
The event was emceed by poet Ray McNiece, and featured performances by Take Nine and the Possibilitarian Puppet Theater. Five members of Take Nine poetry troupe– Kathleen Cerveny, Meredith Holmes, Bonnie Jacobson, Darlene Montonaro and Rita Grabowski– created a special reading for the event called “Water and Ink.” Their performance was followed by the Possiblitarian’s puppet show on dreams and poetry. Five young Lake Erie Ink writers–Lamontay, Nia, Maddie, Mikale and Sylvia– also shared their work. Lake Erie Ink wants to thank all of the above-mentioned artists for participating and inspiring us.
We also want to thank the following local merchants for providing refreshments and prizes: Wendy’s, Sweety Fry’s, Mr. Brisket, Dewey’s Pizza, Guys Pizza, Heights Grill and Tommy’s. Our appreciation also goes to Ralph Solonitz for the fabulous t-shirt design. Thanks to everyone who helped us celebrate the beginning of our second year in our writing space for youth.
