A Time of Fear
By Shawn P. from William Cullen Bryant School, Cleveland Ohio
I am from a time where only few men and women had the privilege of an education.
Everywhere I look I see a whip that makes a sound that strikes fear into the air.
I see many men and women who have been bought, sold, hurt, and had their soul and hope drained from them.
I am from a time where you have to watch your step because of all the blood and fears that were shed over the time.
I am from a time where if one disobeys their master they suffer the consequences of pain from the whip that on sight makes you want to cry and scream.
I am from the slavery times where you can only dream of what freedom really is.
