Join Lake Erie Ink to meet and learn from local writers! This year’s event will feature a meet and greet with the writers, a panel, and workshops led by the writers. Lunch will be provided. Summer Day Camps

All day camps are M-F only, and do not run on weekends.

🌱 Word Gardeners | 2nd-5th grade | 9am-3pm | June 2-6 | $200

Let your creativity bloom as we explore the garden through words! In this camp, young writers will find inspiration in nature, crafting poetry, stories, and descriptive pieces inspired by the sights, smells, and sounds of the outdoors. Through hands-on activities and storytelling exercises, campers will nurture their imaginations and grow as writers, just like a garden flourishes with care.

🖐️ Puppet Fun | 2nd-5th grade | 9:30am-12:30pm | June 9-13 | @ Coventry Library | $100

Bring stories to life with puppetry! Campers will design and create unique puppets using a variety of materials, then develop characters and scripts to perform their own puppet shows. From silly sock puppets to intricate shadow play, this camp sparks creativity through storytelling, art, and performance.

📖 Young Novelists | 4th-8th grade | 1-4pm | June 16-27 | $200

Have you ever dreamed of writing your own book? In this camp, young novelists will dive into the world of storytelling, crafting characters, building worlds, and plotting out page-turning adventures. With guidance from experienced writers, campers will develop their own short novels from start to finish, exploring the creative process along the way.

🖍️ Comics for Kids | 2nd-5th grade | 1-4pm | July 7-18 | @ Disciples Christian Church’s Cultural Arts Center | $200

Unleash your inner comic book creator! This camp is perfect for young artists and storytellers who love graphic novels and cartoons. Campers will learn the basics of comic creation, from developing characters and writing dialogue to illustrating action-packed scenes.

Let your imagination run wild as you create creatures from myths, dreams, and your own imagination! Through storytelling, drawing, sculpting, and world-building, campers will bring their one-of-a-kind creatures to life, exploring their habitats, personalities, and legends.

Want to turn your ideas into eye-catching comics, zines, and visual stories? This camp will teach young artists and writers how to combine words and images to craft personal narratives, informative zines, and bold, expressive stories in their own unique style.

 🎲 Legends in the Making: D&D Story Games | 4th-8th grade | 1-4pm | Jul 21-Aug 1 | $200

Step into a world of adventure and imagination! In this camp, young storytellers will create characters, design quests, and collaborate to build epic narratives through tabletop role-playing games like Dungeons & Dragons. Whether you’re a first-time player or a seasoned adventurer, this is your chance to shape your own legendary journey!

World of Fairytales: A Global Adventure | 2nd-5th grade | 9:30am-12:30pm | Aug 4-8 | $100

Capture the world through a poetic lens! Visit diverse local spaces that inspire creativity, fostering connections between words and images. Participants will create work influenced by the atmosphere, sights, and sounds of each location. Write on Wednesday at Lake Erie Ink and explore in the community on Saturdays!

 🎙️ Have You Heard: Teen Podcasting | 6th-12th grade | 5-8pm | June 16-July 21 | Mon & Wed | FREE
Got a story to tell? Learn the art of podcasting as you develop your own show, conduct interviews, edit audio, and craft compelling narratives. Whether you’re interested in investigative journalism, personal storytelling, or cultural commentary, this program helps you find your voice.

Story Games: Monster of the Week | 7th-12th Grade | 6-8pm | Fridays | June 20-Aug 1 | $100

Monsters. Mysteries. Mayhem. Have you ever suspected that you would be able to survive in your own horror movie? Now’s your chance to find out! Using the exciting Monster of the Week horror-inspired tabletop game system, you and a group of other modern day monster hunters will create unique characters with special skills and compelling backstories and then work together to fight, investigate, and improvise your way through a mysterious monster-plagued small town in this story-focused tabletop role playing game.

This summer, Summer Weekend Ink invites writers, artists, and makers of all ages to explore creativity through hands-on, community-driven workshops. Whether you’re crafting a story, shaping clay, or finding inspiration in the kitchen, these Sunday sessions offer a welcoming space to create, connect, and experiment. Bring your family, bring a friend, or come solo—everyone has a story to tell!

Food tells a story! Explore the connection between food and storytelling as you write about flavors, family traditions, and memorable meals. Whether through poetry, personal essays, or creative recipes, this workshop whisks the art of words with the joy of food. All writing during this workshop can be submitted to our community cookbook!

Get your hands dirty and bring your creativity to life with clay! From sculpting characters to designing miniatures, this workshop encourages artistic expression through ceramics. Shape, mold, and tell a story through your hands-on creations.

Stories have letters—just like words! Go Bananas with Lake Erie Ink. In this Scrabble-like game, participants will explore word building and team collaboration. Grab some family and friends to be the first team to turn your letters into words!
