Summer Camp Happenings
Lake Erie Ink is finishing up Summer Ink programming with Writing Outside the Box for Teens. Exploring the intersection of word and image, teens are seeing how others express themselves creatively and publicly and designing their own public art and writing. Earlier this summer, youth in grades 3rd through 8th created silk screens and prints of their words and symbols,14 plays were written and performed as well as 5 puppet shows; 36 comic books were published, 6 local places were investigated and written about and 5 videos were produced. Whew! Sounds like a lot and it was, but everyone involved had a blast and learned something new. 9 guest artists and writers shared their expertise, and 11 volunteers and interns kept everything running smoothly.
