Meet Damien Ware, Lake Erie Ink’s new Program Coordinator
Born and raised in Cleveland, Damien has been writing poetry for over sixteen years. One of his favorite childhood memories is riding his bike through the city.
Damien served 7 years as a Military Police Officer. He received a masters’ degree in social work from Wayne State University and earned a B.A. in Social Work and African American Studies from Eastern Michigan University.
Currently he is working on his masters in creative writing at Cleveland State University. Damien says, “As an “Artistic Activist” I believe that art can be used as a method for social action because it is the best medium for personal expression and public awareness. My choice of weapon is poetry. The poems I write are the best parts of me. As a community based artist and activist, I use my writings as a tool for social action and advocacy in an effort to enlighten and empower my community and other artists as well.”
