Creative arts deep dive with help from Cuyahoga Arts and Culture
Lake Erie Ink continues to encourage our students to take a comprehensive approach to the creative and literary arts.
Since January, we have invited more writers and artists to our afterschool Ink Spot program. While the Ink Spot focuses on a creative writing curricula, we have found that expanding genres in Ink Spot has deepened students’ understanding of the material, and encouraged them to take creative risks more often. More exposure to photography, sport writing, or collage alongside writing has also helped make more meaningful connections to our Weekend Ink workshops, which is supported by Cuyahoga Arts & Culture. In May, we welcomed writers Susan Petrone, Tricia Springstubb, and creative fusion artist Antonia Cruz.
Our Weekend Ink offers in 2014-15 included poetry, comics, self-portraits, playwriting, sci-fi and fantasy, mask-making, and storytelling. Subscribe to our newsletter for news about our 2015-16 Weekend Ink workshops.
