Stirring Stories: a Community Project
Stirring Stories is a multi-dimensional experience that will capture stories and recipes from the community related to food and place. This three-part endeavor by Lake Erie Ink will result in several community workshops, a community cookbook, and a culminating event this fall. The project includes:
- Stirring the Plot– a community cookbook
- Mix It Up– a series of pop up writing workshops at local restaurants
- Culinary Creativity – culminating event on October 1 featuring chefs telling stories and the launch of the community cookbook
Nothing brings people together like food. All summer long, we’re hosting Mix It Up: community writing workshops held at local restaurants. Led in partnership with local chefs, they’ll share their food and stories and one of our teaching artists will lead a short workshop.
Our cookbook, Stirring the Plot, consists of recipes shared from community members as well as decorated chefs. Alongside the recipes are written pieces from Lake Erie Ink students, notes from the community surrounding the recipes they shared, and stories about the importance of cooking from local chefs.
Finally, on October 1, we’ll gather at Dunham Barn in Cleveland for our fundraising benefit and the launch of our cookbook. With food from local chefs, a poetry bar, and stories from our students, we’ll be celebrating Culinary Creativity all night long! Seats are limited, so grab your tickets here before it’s too late!
